Been a while…
Oct 27th
It’s been a while since I posted anything on the ol’ site.
I was never much of a blogger anyways but posts have been few and far between lately.
At any rate — we are still here…

Death of a Cable Modem
Apr 30th
We are back online after a brief, unplanned hiatus.
North Texas has seen it’s share of spring thunderstorms this year (as usual). The one that hit us early Tuesday morning managed to take out our cable modem.
Time Warner came by yesterday and replaced our cooked little critter and we are back up and running.

Facebook…
Mar 10th
A little FYI for everyone — you can find both Laura and myself on Facebook. Yes, we have taken the dive.
Fear not about little KnLC.net, it will still be here for all your family photo and silly blogging needs. FB is simply too good at what it provides for us to ignore any longer.

Friendship
Feb 24th
Friendship Among Women:
A woman didn’t come home one night. The next day she told her husband that she had slept over at a girlfriend’s house. The man called his wife’s 10 best friends. Not one of them knew anything about it.
Friendship Among Men:
A man didn’t come home one night. The next day he told his wife that he had slept over at a buddy’s house. The woman called her husband’s 10 best friends. Eight of them confirmed that he had slept over, and two claimed that he was still there.
Malware and Scareware…
Feb 23rd
My favorite malware (ugh!) is back with a new name and a new game to get itself into your system. Yes, Antivrus XP is back — with a new name and a few new tricks. It’s now calling itself Anti-Virus-1 or AV-1. Be on the lookout for this one.
Go here for the whole story.
My advice — if you did not specifically request an application be installed — DON’T! Stop blindly clicking ‘OK’ people.
Anyways, if you find yourself infected with this little jewel – trust me, you’ll know it when you’ve got it – get yourself a copy of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and run it. So far it is the only app that I have found that will consistently clean this little bugger.

PeerGuardian Tip
Feb 20th
If you are a bittorrent (BT from here on) user you should probably be using some sort of protection software specifically for BT use. The jury’s out on whether these actually help or not but hey, can’t hurt right?
DTV switchover delay looming
Jan 27th
The senate voted unanimously to delay the impending switchover to DTV on Monday. Congress is expected to follow suit.
This is a bad idea folks. Here’s why.
All that advertising that’s been hammering away at us to get ready for the switch is now working against itself. Folks that had done nothing but needed to will now hit the original (Feb) deadline and their equipment will still work. They now think they are good to go. Now, here comes the new and improved June 12 deadline. Think they’re confused now? Wait till this summer!
My opinion: the people that weren’t ready for Feb will not be ready for June either. This is just delaying the inevitable FUBAR to come.
Let’s just do this thing and get it over with already! Maybe then the TV companies will allocate some more bandwidth to their existing HDTV offerings and our signals will improve.

Site News
Jan 25th
I did some work on the site this morning.
The forms weren’t working. They’re fixed now. If you tried to use our contact form in the last week or so, please try again.
There may also be some missing images on olders posts. I am making the executive decision to just let them go. This was part of the update to the latest wordpress. I am all about simplification these days and am tired of having to fiddle with things after every update to get the site back up and running.
That’s all for now.
