This is unverified but it sure seems fishy to me.

Lately, I have been receiving spam emails at work with a virus in them. The type of virus varies, sometimes it is a bad one, sometimes the virus does not appear to do anything other than trigger our corporate virus software.

I think that this may be a sneaky way for a spammer to verify a live email address. If you haven't turned it off, your virus software may be automatically sending an email to anyone that sends you a virus to let them know they have a problem with their system. If that person happens to be a spammer, your system has just let them know that your email exists and is active (not a good thing)!

I would suggest finding this feature in your virus software options and turning it off. It does not help (in fact it has the exact opposite effect — it clogs the internet with antivirus reply emails triggered by the virii - thereby increasing the detrimental effect with the collateral damage of thousands of helpful emails flying about).

Peace,
Kell
